December 2009

We updated the information regarding our current Barbado da Terceira litter and upcoming Dachshund and Drever litters. 

In Latvia, on the 20^th, Alzira de Aradik (Wire-haired Standard Teckel/Dachshund living at the Track-Action kennel, in Finland) got the CAC.

In Lithuania, on the 19^th, on her first show, Alzira de Aradik (Wire-haired Standard Teckel/Dachshund living at the Track-Action kennel, in Finland) got the CAC and the CACIB.

In the 2009 ranking, Figo was the best ranked Barbado da Terceira, ranking #7 in 137 dogs. Also, Aradik Kennel was 4^th Best Breeder's Group, with Barbado da Terceira.

On the 14th, Pulga do Casal da Vinha and Track-Action Lupiini finaly came back home! :) After a 5 months stay in Finland, longer than initially planned, they both came back with fulfilled goals and pregnant. The litters are expected for mid-January. Thank you so much Anne Lehto (Track-Action Kennel) for putting up with them, for training Pulga so well se became Finish Hunting Champion, for taking Lupiini for shows in such good manner she became Lithuania Champions (and will be champion of some more countries as soon as she has hunting results), for everything!

At the 6^th Batalha International Dog Show, on the 13^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed.

November 2009

 At the 10^th Santarém International Dog Show, on the 29^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed. Astro de Aradik, on his first show, was Best Junior Male and 2^nd Best Male.

At the 1^st Braga International Dog Show, on the 15^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed.

Outubro 2009

We updated the page about our Barbados da Terceira, with information on some of the dogs we have breed which are performing well in their fields or which we have kept.

In Latvia, on the 31^st, Acção Velho de Aradik (Wire-haired Standard Teckel/Dachshund living at the Track-Action kennel, in Finland) got the  CAC-J, was 3^rd Best Male and became Latvia & Lithuania & Estonia Junior Champion!

We updated the Barbado C litter page, with new photos and a link for an on-line photo album

At the 4^th Beja´s Portuguese Dog Breeds Show, on the 25^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed.

At the 10^th Beja´s National Dog Show, on the 24^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed.

In Finland, on the 24th, the Standard Wire-haired Dachshund Pulga do Casal da Vinha was Best dog in a hunting trial, getting LUT A, with maximum points (50); once again the judge stopped her before the end of the required time, due to her excellent performance! With this result, Pulga became Finnish working Champion (FIN KVA-L), probably the first Portuguese Dachshund to get this title!

All of this would not have been possible without Anne Lehto’s (Track-Action kennel) excellent work!

In Siauliai (Lithuania), on the 18^th, the Drever Track-Action Lupiini was Best of Breed!

In Valmiera (Latvia), on the 17^th, the Drever Track-Action Lupiini was 2nd Best Female.

On the 4^th, the Barbado da Terceira Beta de Aradik participated on a match show near Valkeakoski (Finland). In this unofficial show, dogs (regardless of breed and age) compete on pairs. A red ribbon is given to the one that wins that round, the other gets a blue one. Then the winners of each type of ribbon compete against each other. Beta won the blue group!

At the 2^nd Arcos de Valdevez's National Dog Show, on the 4^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed, and the Standard Wire-haired Dachshund  Alfinete de Aradik was Best Junior Male of the breed.

In Finland, on the 3^rd, the Standard Wire-haired Dachshund Pulga do Casal da Vinha was 2^nd Best dog in a hunting trial, getting LUT B, with the 44 possible points; the judge even stopped her before the end of the required time, due to her excellent performance! =).

September 2009

In Karkilla (Finland), on the 27^th, the Drever Track-Action Lupiini got a CAC.

At the 17^th Alto Alentejo's National Dog Show, on the 26^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed.

In Finland, on the 19^th, the Standard Wire-haired Dachshund Pulga do Casal da Vinha got LUTC, with 38 pontos, in a hunting trial.

At the 14^th Aveiro's National Dog Show, on the 13^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed and made the cut in group!

In Finland, on the 12^th, the Standard Wire-haired Dachshund Pulga do Casal da Vinha was Best dog in a hunting trial, getting LUT B, with 43 points (out of 44 possible)!

In Lithuania, on the 6^th, Acção Velho de Aradik (Wire-haired Standard Teckel/Dachshund living at the Track-Action kennel, in Finland) got the  CAC-J and was Best Junior of the Breed!

August 2009

In Estonia, at the Group 6 show, on the 23^rd, the Drever Track-Action Lupiini got the CAC and was 2nd Best Female (behind her mother Track-Action Certtu).

At the 58^th Estoril's Coast International Dog Show, on the 23^rd, in the Barbado da Terceira, Ali-babá de Aradik was 2nd male puppy; in the female puppies, Bóina de Aradik was Best Puppy of the Breed, Becas de Aradik was 2^nd. Figo was Best of breed. Aradik was BIS3 at Breeder’s Group and Figo was BIS at Best Progeny (with offspring Ali-babá, Becas and Bóina).

In Estonia, at the Baltic Winner Show, on the 22^nd, the Drever Track-Action Lupiini was Excellent and RCACIB and Acção Velho de Aradik (Wire-haired Standard Teckel/Dachshund living at the Track-Action kennel, in Finland) was 2^nd Junior Male

At the 4^th Estoril National Dog Show, on the 22^nd, in the Barbado da Terceira, Ali-babá Estoril Aradik was 2nd male puppy; in the female puppies, Bóina de Aradik was best female puppy, Becas de Aradik was 2^nd. Figo was Best of Breed and BIS3 at the Portuguese Breeds final. Alfinete de Aradik was Best Junior Male Standard Wire-haired Dachshund. Aradik was BIS2 at Breeder’s Group and Figo was BIS2 at Best Progeny (with offspring Ali-babá, Becas and Bóina) (but unfortunately, even if very good indeed, the BIS Progeny was in violation of the regulations about the participation in this final, and could not have competed)

At the Pöytyä’s (Finland) Show for FCI’s groups 5 &6, on the 18^th, the Drever Track-Action Lupiini was 3^rd Best Bitch and RCAC.

Beta de Aradik is moving to Finland, and is going to be the first Barbado da Terceira there. We wish her and Rockriver's Kennel the best of success!

In Finland, on the 14^th, Acção Velho de Aradik had his eyes examed, with clear reasults.

In Finland, on the 13^th, Track-Action Lupiini started blood tracking training, with promising results.

At the 114^th Lisbon International Dog Show, on the 12^th, Alfinete de Aradik was Best Junior Male Standard Wire-haired Dachshund. In the Barbado da Terceira, Ali-babá de Aradik was Best male puppy; in the female puppies, Bóina de Aradik was Best Puppy of the Breed, Becas de Aradik was 2^nd and Beta de Aradik  was 3^rd. In the adults, Figo was Best champion and Tejo got the CAC-QC and was Best male; Sheila got the CAC-QC, becoming Portuguese Champion, was Best Female and Best of Breed. At the finals, Bóina de Aradik was Best Puppy of Group 1 and Figo was BIS at Best Progeny (with offspring Ali-babá, Becas and Bóina)!

Figo, Tejo and Sheila also did eye exams with ECVO (European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists) certificate, and were clear of all of the examined pathologies

At the 113^th Lisbon International Dog Show, on the 11^th, Alfinete de Aradik was Best Junior Male Standard Wire-haired Dachshund and qualified for Crufts 2010. In the Barbado da Terceira, Ali-babá de Aradik was 2^nd best male puppy; in the female puppies, Becas de Aradik was Best Puppy of the Breed and Lisboa Puppy Winner 2009, Beta de Aradik was 2^nd and Bóina de Aradik was 3^rd. In the adults, Tejo was 2^nd Exc. in Open Class, Figo was Best champion and Best male and Sheila was Best Female, Best of Breed and Lisboa Winner 2009. At the finals, Figo was BIS at Best Progeny (with offspring Ali-babá, Becas and Bóina)!

June 2009

In Tomarkku, Finland, on the 30^th, Pulga do Casal da Vinha (Standard Wire-haired Dachshund) participated in her first hunting trial, in a den with fox, with a great result - she got 2^nd place, LUT C with 38 points!

We were present at the 3^rd Horse’s Fair, in Ponte de Lima, from the 25^th to the 28^th presenting the Barbado da Terceira breed, with some divulgation material, with Figo and Tejo. The amount of public was impressive! And among the thousands of people who for the first time got to know the breed, we also had the pleasure of talking to some cattle ranchers who already knew it, and some had even used the Barbado in their farms.

At the 1^st Loures National Dog Show,  on the 20^th, in the Barbado da Terceira, Ali-babá de Aradik was Best Puppy of Breed. In the female puppies, Becas de Aradik was best female, Bóina de Aradik was 2^nd and Beta de Aradik was 3^rd. Figo was 1^st in Champions Class and 2^nd Best Male. At the finals, Ali-babá and Becas were BIS2 at Brace, Aradik was BIS2 at Breeder’s Group and Figo was BIS at Best Progeny (with offspring Ali-babá, Becas and Bóina)

At the Kemiö’s (Finland) Show for FCI’s groups 4, 5 &6, on the 13^th, the Drever Track-Action Lupiini was 3^rd in Champions Class and RCAC; she was also part of BIS at Breeder’s Group.

On the 11^th, Track-Action Lupiini (Drever) and Pulga do Casal da Vinha (Standard Wire-haired Dachshund) went for some “working holidays” in Finland, at Track-Action Kennel. Pulga will be training for hunting trials, while Lupiini will attend some shows. If all goes according to plans, they will stay until they come in heat and breed there; then they will return home.

At the 7^th Portugal’s Day Portuguese Breeds Show, on the 10^th, we had Aradik Kennel’s first “puppy party” – almost all our show-quality Barbado da Terceira puppies were present. At the male puppies, Ali-babá de Aradik was 1^st and Ananás de Aradik was 2^nd; at the female puppies, Becas de Aradik was 1^st and Best Puppy of the Breed, Bóina de Aradik was 2^nd, Bica de Aradik was 3^rd and Beta de Aradik was 4^th. With the adults, Figo was 1^st in Champions Class and 2^nd Best Male, Tejo got the CAC-QC (the mandatory point for championship) and was Best Male and Sheila got the CAC-QC and was Best Female and Best of Breed. At the finals, Aradik was BIS2 at Breeder’s Group and Figo was BIS2 at Best Progeny (with offspring Ali-babá, Becas and Bóina)

At the 21^st Elvas International Dog Show, on the 9^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed and BIS3 at the Portuguese Breeds Final (handled by Mariana Canaverde). The Drever Track-Action Lupiini was Best of Breed.

At the 6^th Viana do Castelo International Dog Show, on the 26^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed.

At the 16^th Penafiel National Dog Show, on the 25^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed

We attended the Obedience Seminar with Mads Moller (World Champion 2008), organized by Doggy Clube on April 24-26. Although our dogs did not participate, as the seminar was meant for dogs at a higher level of training, Aradik Kennel was present with 3 dogs – Adágio, Becas de Aradik and Alfa de Aradik. Alfa (Ginga for her friends) belongs to Pedro Araújo, owner of Doggy Clube and National Obedience Champion both individually and by clubs, and the first person regularly attending competitions to be interested in the Barbado da Terceira for these activities. We wish Pedro and Ginga the best success in their career!

Duquesa-B went home on the 27! :-( She came here 14 months ago, at the request of his owner, Dédalo Henrique Ribeiro da Silva, to do some shows. After a brilliant year in the show rings, we can say that, without the shadow of a doubt, she set a definitive change for the breed, greatly contributing for dog breeders and the general public to understand what a Barbado da Terceira really is. Duquesa-B is now going home to keep up her important contribution for the breed – as a breeding dog, a field where she has also already proven to be an exceptional animal. Good luck, Duquesa! :-)

At the 6^th Caldas da Rainha National Dog Show, on the 8^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed; Alfinete de Aradik was Best Wire-haired Standard Teckel/Dachshund Puppy and 2^nd Best Puppy of Group.

January 2009

At the 69^th North International Dog Show, on the 25^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed; Alfinete de Aradik was Best Wire-haired Standard Teckel/Dachshund Puppy and 2^nd Best Puppy of Group. The Drever Track-Action Lupiini was Best of Breed.

At the 3^rd Exponor national Dog Show, on the 24^th, the Barbado da Terceira Figo was Best of Breed and got the Porto Winner 2009 title; Alfinete de Aradik was Best Wire-haired Standard Teckel/Dachshund Puppy and got the Porto Puppy Winner title. The Drever Track-Action Lupiini was Best of Breed, also becoming Porto Winner 2009.

 

December 2008

Aradik Kennel is on-line! But still with lots of work ahead...
